For Those Who Thirst For Revival

By

Devotional for Day 31 – October 1, 2013

Pastor Kennedy Lokote from Malawi, Glory House Revival Church, England
————————————————————————————————-

Intention:
We need to turn totally to God and then cry out for revival.

Scripture:
“Samuel said to the people of Israel, ‘If you are going to turn to the Lord with all your hearts, you must get rid of all the foreign gods and the images of the goddess Astarte. Dedicate yourselves completely to the LORD and worship only Him, and He will rescue you from the power of the Philistines.’ So the Israelites got rid of their idols of Baal and Astarte, and worshiped only the LORD.” (1 Samuel 7:3-4 GNT)

Reflection:
After truly turning to God, Samuel cried out to God and the Lord thundered from heaven. The only cry of the wicked that God hears is that of repentance, and once we have repented then He honors our desired petitions. It is time to repent and cry out to God.

I feel the message of grace has been compromised and some of the Church has gone into apostasy. The fear of the Lord, righteousness and holiness is no longer encouraged and much of the Church is living like the rest of the world. This happens when teachers insist that grace makes no demands for righteous works, ignoring that we are God’s workmanship created in Christ Jesus for good works (Ephesians 2:10). Faith without works is dead.

Jesus Christ refused Satan’s offer of the world’s kingdoms and their glory in exchange for God’s worship. It’s a shame to see our Church today giving in to this offer. A craving for physical pleasure, pride in our achievements and possessions and the glory of this world have corrupted the Church. We, the Church, must first completely return to the Lord and cut off any ungodly association that we have made with the world. There can’t be victory outside the camp when there’s defeat within the camp. Revival is only possible on the condition that the Church admits her backslidden state and repents and turns away completely from it. When REVIVAL comes to the Church, others will be affected. Many will respond positively to the gospel of Jesus Christ for salvation.

Pray this Prayer:
Our Heavenly and Merciful Father, we have sinned and done wrong. We have been wicked and have rebelled. We have turned away from following You with all our heart, our mind and our strength. O Lord, You are righteous, but this day we are covered with shame. In our pursuit of worldly riches, honor and glory we have fallen into temptation. We have witnessed disasters come on us yet we have not sought your favor, O Lord our God, by turning from our sins and giving attention to your truth. Now, Lord our God, Who bought us by the precious blood of Your son, Jesus Christ, hear our prayers. O Lord, listen! Lord, forgive! Lord, hear and act! For your sake, O God, do not delay, because Your Church and Your people bear Your name, the name JESUS CHRIST. AMEN!

Continue in prayer using the 4 prayer points as the Lord leads you.
