For Those Who Thirst For Revival

Devotional for Day 3 – September 3, 2013

Adapted from a devotion by Fred and Sue Rowe, MDs, Transform World
———————————————————————————————
Intention:
Seeing through the smoke-screens.

Scripture:
“See to it that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deception, according to the tradition of men, according to the elementary principles of the world, rather than according to Christ.” (Colossians 2:8 NASU)

Reflection:
As daily issues continue to pummel the news regarding political unrest, popular philosophies, worldly traditions, economic fragility, and natural disasters, we must be on guard that we don’t get distracted away from what God has called each of us to do. To walk with Him. To be busy about His Great Commission. To reach out to our neighbors. To pray for the nations. To build up the church. The enemy can deceive us into failing to cry out, “Lord give me eyes to see and ears to hear what the Spirit is saying to the Church.”

Today we are in a critical time. Yes, spiritual smoke-screens are all over the news! But can we see beyond them and into God’s heavenly purposes? Though our circumstances may not seem like they are changing in the physical realm, God is always making a way in the spiritual realm. Breakthroughs will come if we keep our eyes fixed on Him. It is an hour to move beyond the smoke-screens of news, disappointments, discouragement, rejections in our lives, and cling to the unchanging truths and promises of the Word of God.

In the midst of all the destruction and the distractions, can we see that God is at work in our circumstances today? Will we allow the Lord to help us see what is being taken, stolen, or destroyed by the enemy? Can we pray and not let go of heaven’s purposes until we see them come to pass?

Pray this Prayer:
Thank You God that You are calling us, as Your people, to see Your redemptive purposes and will through the smoke-screens of life and to cling to Your promises until we see them fulfilled.

Forgive us for the times when we have allowed the fleeting circumstances of life to throw us off track. You are raising up a NEW army with RENEWED strength, focus, fervor and vigor for the hour we are in. In the midst of the busyness of our lives, help us to press in to you. Thank You that the light of your Word and your promises are waiting for us. Amen.

Continue in prayer using the 4 prayer points as the Lord leads you.

1. Pray for a worldwide outpouring of the Holy Spirit for revival and transformation of the nations of the world.
2. Pray for the lost to repent and find Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord.
3. Pray for a multiplication of prayer, praise and worship to God across the world as never before, to bring great glory to God.
4. Pray for the ReFRESH conferences, Sherwood and our part in seeking revival in our country and the nations.
